Encore is an iPhone app for reconnecting with someone you almost met in real life. Log the place and time, recognize someone from an overlapping visit, and chat when you both choose each other.

After you’ve been somewhere, you log the place and the rough hour you were there. If someone else logged the same place during the same window, you'll see them as a possible match. Tap "That's them," and they'll see it was you — your name and your photo, just them and no one else. If they feel the same, you match. If they don't, nothing happens: a no is silent, and you're never told.

Encore is romantic by default, but it's not a swipe app. It's for the moment between two people who noticed each other and ran out of time. That often leads to dating.

Encore starts with a place and time you remember. It shows people who logged an overlapping visit, rather than a citywide feed of profiles. Logs are member-provided; an overlap is a chance to recognize someone, not proof they were there.

Yes. Both people need to log the same place around the same time. Choosing someone lets them see who noticed them; a chat opens only when you choose each other.

Your log history isn’t public. People with overlapping logs can see you as a possible connection. When you choose someone, that person can see your name and profile before choosing you back. Read the privacy policy for the full details.

You only match when both people indicate interest. When you tap "That's them," that one person sees your name and profile in their Noticed list — nobody else does. If they don't feel the same, nothing happens: they can quietly dismiss it, and either way you're never told. No read receipts, no public likes. When both sides tap "That's them," Encore opens a chat between you.

The first 75 people through the door. Encore opens in New York with a room that size on purpose, and the founding class has everything unlocked for six months from launch — nothing metered, nothing to buy. Applications stay open after 75, and Encore stays free to join either way.

Yes. Logging where you were, being found, matching and messaging are free and stay that way. Seeing who noticed you before you've matched has a weekly limit, and bringing someone into Encore earns you more. The founding class of 75 has everything unlocked for six months.
